This candid shot happened to be taken right in the middle of me (like an Idiot).. saying “CHEESSSEEEEE”. That’s what I get for not looking at it before I left.
Today I got to meet a really genuine person named Brandon. We both happen to be at the same age of 24. A fun and exciting time for most people our age right? A time to be starting careers or even families for some..I can imagine for Brandon, things aren’t panning out the way he had once visioned as a child.
He was Born and raised here in Arizona. Brandon went to a local high school until he decided to drop out. He was getting in trouble with Pot as a juvenile and spent some time in a detention center. There he made the wise decision to get his G.E.D.
After becoming an adult, he worked at jobs like fast food and construction to make a living. It wasn’t long into adulthood until he got caught by police with over an ounce of weed. It wasn’t his first pot related charge so he was sentenced to a year in Jail. He did his time and released. Brandon has picked up heavier drug habits since being out and now lives on the streets.
His mom and dad dont agree with his habits obviously. They love him dearly, but can’t continue to help him if he’s not willing to change. He has been in and out of rehab facilities but can never seem to remain there and get sober.
After talking with him over breakfast, I got to know just what a kind person Brandon really is. My heart hurts for him because of his situation, but I also have faith that one day he will change. He’s smart, sociable and an all around friendly person.
I shared with Brandon about personal struggles I myself deal with on a daily basis. Although they might not quite be the same, we all have addictions shaping our daily lives. I also told him about my Faith and hope in Jesus Christ. If anyone can save us from our earthly dependencies it’s Jesus.
Brandon believes in a higher power but hasn’t given much thought on the Bible. I gave him a copy that he will hopefully come to know well and trust in, much like I have. Put your faith in Christ and he will move mountains for you.
Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
