UPDATE on John. ( April 4, 2017)

So today I planned on finding Someone new to have lunch and share Jesus with but things didn’t go as I had planned. I drove around the streets I usually check for a homeless person, but for whatever reason after miles and miles I couldn’t find anyone to approach. Finally I saw a man standing on the corner holding a sign saying “Please help, God bless” I immediately pulled my car into the nearest lot, got the food and other things I had brought for this man and headed his way. Once I got close to him I realized it was John a man I had had lunch with several weeks before. John looked different today, in a good way, he looked more alive and radiant. He was very happy to see me and recognized me right away. Today I was able to have lunch with John again as well as bring him a pack of new socks. Thanks to some of my amazing family Who made them for me to hand out John got a “hygiene bag” with a cross, colored by my cousins and niece and inspirational bible verses on the back. While we were sitting down talking today, out of nowhere, John jumped up and literally ran across the street (avoiding some cars in the process) to the other side where an old lady was standing with some groceries. I watched as he talked with her for about 10 minutes while I sat in the corner and waited for him to return. When John came back I asked how he knew the woman and who she was. He said one day he saw her walking with her groceries and struggling, stopping every 20 feet to readjust the bags. He had run over to her and asked if he could help her. John left what things he had on the corner and carried that woman’s bags all the way to her apartment half a mile away. John has a heart of gold. He is willing to help people, when he himself has nothing to offer but kindness. John is hitchhiking to Colorado Springs for the summer in the next couple of weeks and asked if we could all pray for him to have a safe trip. This world needs more people like John, selfless thoughtful people. “Nothing is black or white, nothing’s us or them, but then there are magical beautiful things in this world. There’s incredible acts of kindness and bravery, and in the most unlikely places, and it gives you hope” -Dave Matthews
